This Page provides information related to how to contact the website developer of this site, explains some of the implemented and not yet quite implemented tools and even summarises what is yet to happen with this website. We at the West Coast DHB hope that you find this website a useful information source, and if not, please feel free to let us know.
Vision
Welcome to www.westcoastdhb.org.nz
As you have probably noticed, this website's structure and information has been completely revised.
Our vision behind the creating of this website is primarily to educate you, our website visitors by presenting you what the West Coast DHB has to offer. One of our main goals was to make access to important and essential information as straightforward as possible.
This goal hasn't been reached yet!
The www.westcoastdhb.org.nz website, just having been released, has obviously not yet been optimised by any means, and that is why we to a great part rely on Your feedback.
What you see here right now is only a start, and now needs further developments and improvements.
Please let us know if you have any ideas what else we can do to help make this a well constructed and informative website.
We first and foremost wanted to get the information out as soon as possible
Further handy tools will soon be available on this site, such as Printer Friendly pages, more images, maps, and anything else that can improve this site. Yes, we even intend to publish news items more frequently than has been the case in the past.
Rest assured that this site will come alive, so come and visit it frequently.

Email Links don't display as the actual email address
Why is that?
In order to protect personnel from receiving unwanted emails (SPAM) it has been decided to mask them from automated spiders.
For that reason we have encrypted the email link and what you see with each displayed email address is the word 'at' instead of the '@' symbol. So joe.bloggs@westcoastdhb.health.nz will be displayed as joe.bloggs at westcoastdhb.health.nz. If you haven't got JavaScript enabled, simply deleted any spaces and replace the word 'at' with @. Then email the recipient using any email application.
This website has many other tools implemented on this site making use of JavaScript, so we encourage you to turn it on while browsing this site. If you don't want JavaScript turned on all the time, simply turn it off again, once finished viewing the pages on this site.
If your browser has JavaScript enabled and if you have an email application such as Thunderbird, Outlook, Outlook Express, etc. installed on your computer then you should be able to easily send emails to the attended recipients, simply by clicking on this link.
Viewing PDF documents

Please note that none of our website links open a new window, so instead of closing any open windows, simply use the back button on your browser to get you back to the previous page.
Help! I cannot view or download your PDF documents
In order to download PDF documents you need to have PDF Reader Software, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader or Foxit PDF Reader installed on your machine or server.
Internal Site Search Tool
This tool is currently still pointing to old obsolete webpages!
You will occasionally find that the search-results displayed by our Google Search engine will point to a web-page which no longer exists. These pages typically belonged to our old website.
Why is this happening?
Google and other search-engines (i.e. Yahoo) have a special feature to save old copies of a special webpage, which can come in handy, when a site is temporarily unavailable.
So, when a website is unavailable search-engine users are still able to click a link labelled 'cached' which takes users to the last saved copy, when the website wasn't down.
However this effectively means that visitors to our site still are able to access information that only existed on our old, but not our new site. Unfortunately we are unable to turn this feature off with every search-engine, and so it is still possible for people to obtain that older data. However we have manually removed close to 300 links to old pages with Google. So, if you're searching with Google you should soon notice that you will no longer have dead links.
So, what to do?
If, after searching you click on the main file link, and you find that the page you selected isn't available simply ignore that page and don't select the 'cached' option. That is unless you really want to view that old information. We highly recommend however not to use these links, especially if you are seeking health advice, as some of these older pages have been removed on purpose, or they have been moved to a new location on our new website.
So, just find the main links that DO take you to our new website.
When will the Search Tool stop showing links to old pages?
This we have no control of, but we hope that in approximately 2-3 months the cached links of most search-engines will have been updated and will point to only pages on our new site.
